Surrey
Only a short hop and skip from the capital, Surrey offers a relaxed vision of England with heathland, valley woodlands and high empty commons that rise to soaring outliers of the West Sussex Downs.
Tranquil it may be, but this beautiful county is not short on things to do. Things to do in Surrey for kids
Birdworld
Birdworld in Surrey is one of the largest bird parks in the country and is home to some amazing birds from around the world. From the massive Maribou Stork to tiny Sunbirds, Penguins, Owls, Parrots, Waterfowl and many other colourful species, there are birds of all shapes and sizes to see here. Visitors can watch the Penguins being fed twice a day and admire the birds as they swoop, soar and hop in the Outdoor Flying Display and the Heron Theatre Show.
Guildford Spectrum
For a fantastic day of fun for an active family head to Guildford Spectrum in Surrey where kids can let off all the steam they can muster. Try your hand at a spot of ice skating at the Olympic sized ice rink, or tenpin bowling at the 32 lane alley. Keep your little water babies happy at one of the four pools in the complex. The leisure pool is must for kids with flumes, a tyre ride, bubble beds, sprays and a wave machine.
Mercedes-Benz World
Head to Mercedes-Benz World near Weybridge for an exhilarating day of family fun. Here you will find simulator rides, interactive challenges, enthralling exhibits and the opportunity to take any one of the Mercedes-Benz car models around the circuits. Kids can have their first ever driving lesson on the circuit - as long as their feet touch the pedals, they can go! You can also view some of the most expensive and famous cars in the world in the main gallery area – a sight not to be missed.
Painshill Park
Painshill Park offers visitors a 158-acre wonderland. Magnificently restored – with a mystic mix of awesome views, surreal follies, serpentine lake and historic plantings – it is one of Europe’s most important 18th century landscape gardens. Visit the amazing Crystal Grotto, the Ruined Abbey, the magical Gothic Temple and an exotic Turkish Tent. Throughout the year families can enjoy entertaining events and holiday activities.
