Return to Helmand: The Royal Marines in Afghanistan Exhibition
Situated in a new, purpose-designed special exhibitions gallery, learn about the Royal Marines during their current and recent operations in Afghanistan. Through this challenging insight into the Corps that wear that prestigious green beret, you will discover what they are trying to achieve in Afghanistan, their adaption to dealing with conflict and the many demands placed upon them. From life in camp, contact with their loved-ones and friends, the impact of the wounded and the lost of colleagues, the young and old alike will understand the true and challenging role of our Royal Marines today. Through the use of photography, video footage, oral histories, a series of paintings commissioned from the war artist Gordon Rushmer, a range of exhibits brought back from the field of action, and activities for the children including a dressing-up game and webbing that actually talks to you, there is a wealth of knowledge to be explored by the whole family.
