Build yourself some great memories at LEGOLAND® Windsor in Berkshire.  New this year is the Kingdom of the Pharaohs, take the Laser Raiders ride through an ancient tomb in search of hidden treasure – but beware of sneaky, scary booby traps.  Also new is a Bob the Builder™ film in 4D and a puppet show Goldilocks and the Three Bears, in the Duplo™ Theatre - Are you sitting comfortably?

Other favourites include exciting rides like the Viking Splash Ride, the Dragon Ride and Pirate Falls that ends in a good drenching.  Miniland is a world made from 40 million pieces of Lego®, put cleverly together to create scenes from all over the globe.  Younger children are thrilled to get a driving licence after a few circuits at the driving school and they love the Digger Challenge.  It’s a big park so there’s lots of walking - but when little legs get weary you can take the hill train. Legoland Windsor is open from March - November.

The lovely Buckinghamshire country-side is great for families.  Typically English, the perfect villages as are pretty as a picture, nor need they cost much to explore.  Go walking along the Thames and see if you can spot stoats or weasels or even Mr Toad from Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in the Willows that was based here.  Go cycling in Wendover Woods or follow the Phoenix Trail, a former railway line that leads from Princes Risborough, Bucks to Thame in Oxfordshire. It’s about five miles long and is dotted with artworks.

Children go free at family race days at Ascot in Berkshire.  There are a number of activities including fairground rides, balloon modelling and circus workshops.  The under 16s can join the Colts and Fillies Club.  It’s free to join and membership has benefits such as a chance to meet a jockey, a behind the scenes tour, picnics and magic shows.

Step into Victorian times at Dickens World in Kent which recreates colourful settings from his books.  Take the Great Expectations Boat Ride, see the nasty school master in the Victorian School, walk the corridors of Marshalsea Prison and be scared by ghosts of his novels in the Haunted House.  It’s like stepping into his stories but here you turn corners instead of pages.  Some of it is wonderfully horrid – and great fun!
