Cliveden
With grand views of the River Thames, Cliveden in Berkshire was the hub of society in the early part of the 20th century. The house was originally the home of Waldorf and Nancy Astor. The spectacular estate has a series of formal gardens and an outstanding collection of sculpture and statues from the ancient and modern worlds.

Hughenden Manor
Hughenden Manor in Buckinghamshire offers a vivid insight into the private life of the Victorian Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli - who lived here from 1848 until his death in 1881. Much of his furniture, paintings and books remain. The formal gardens have been recreated and there are some beautiful walks in surrounding countryside.

Stowe Landscape Gardens
One of Europe's foremost landscape gardens, Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire is the perfect setting for a family picnic as well as walks and trails for all to enjoy. You can also take a tour of Stowe House (not part of the National Trust) or explore the 750 acres of surrounding historic parkland.

Basildon Park
This Georgian era mansion, Basildon Park in Berkshire is surrounded by glorious parkland - lovingly rescued from almost certain demolition in the mid 1950s. There are trails through the parkland and gardens including a new wildlife area, with a pond and picnic tables ideal for families.
